The Dwellers in Ogun State are excited with the recent utterances of our amiable and progressive Governor,Senator Ibikunle Amosun, one of which is marking the 40th anniversary of the existence of Ogun State in February,2016, with 40 laudable projects that will spread and touch every part of the State.
We are glad. I said ‘we’ because l interviewed some indigenes and non indigenes of Ogun state, (I am of the latter), cutting across different strata of the society.
One major thing in most people’s lips is celebrating the occasion with good roads, especially the uncompleted ones either by his government or those of his predecessor’s.
In one of my trips to some parts of the state, I saw first hand the palpable conditions of some major roads. Though, we commend his gallant strides so far to make Ogun State a place to visit.
I followed a friend of my mother to Sagamu, her place of birth last week. The woman was so thrilled with what she saw. According to her, it had been long she visited home. She lives in Lagos. Now, she could see expressways in the heart of the city with overhead bridge at Sabo area.She could not hide her feelings.
I watched her expressions and also beheld d transformation of a traditional Remo capital.
On the other hand,as l proceeded to Agowoye through Ilishan to Irolu and Ijebu Ijesa, I almost regretted going to Agowoye for what l went to do.
The stretch of road was very bad from Ijebu Ijesa end to Agowoye. No wonder my relation there does not take her car anytime she goes in or out of the town.
The terrain was nothing to write home about.
Another major issue about the road and the other uncompleted roads is the health hazards arising from their state.
The volume of dust being raised as vehicles ply such roads is unquantifiable.
One would surely be decked with dust from head to toe;even your nostrils would have a lot of it.
The drivers desire to partake of the dividend of good governance as promised by the State government.
Another one of such road is Ijoko-Agbado road. So also we have Papalanto towards Sagamu interchange
On these roads,wearing white is a taboo. I want to add that it is not only white. Anytime one passes through these roads,people will know one is coming from an outskirts of the town.
One thing l want to add is the side way of the road to Agowoye that is caving in and nobody is saying anything. The rocky side is on daily basis falling out of shape.
The picture below shows the level of it when l passed on the road early December. However, the caving in is moving fast as if it is under an explosive agent.
Something urgently has to be done before it is erupted upon moving vehicle. God forbid.
Lastly, the bad roads, especially those outside the towns are haven for evil deeds- From daylight robbery to different attacks.
Let our Governor act for posterity sake.. Let the celebration be for all and saundry.
So that it would not only be,’Omo Ogun,, ise ya'( That is, only work for Ogun people) and no reinforcement or reward after labor.
2016 February, we await you with high hopes and eagerness.
